Opening Ceremonies will be held at the Aquarium in downtown Houston.  All events are going to take place in Memorial Park.  Closing ceremonies will be at the Discovery Green Park across from the George R. Brown Convention Center.

Rev. Manson B. Johnson is pastor of Holman Street Baptist Church, a congregation into redevelopment of 30 acres of property southeast of downtown Houston, which includes a new worship center, an administrative office complex, an educational facility, and a family life center. He holds a Bachelors of Arts Degree from Texas Southern University, A Certified Degree in Mathematics from Prairie View A & M University, and is currently pursuing a Master's Degree from Texas Southern University.

Rev. Johnson is a member of the Baptist Ministers Association - Houston, Phi Beta Sigma International, Inc., and the Harris County Republican Party. He serves: as Dean in the Independent Missionary Baptist General Association of Texas; as Assistant Recording Secretary - the Missionary Baptist General Convention of Texas; and Assistant Youth Director for the National Baptist Convention of America, Inc.

Rev. Johnson, an active community leader, is a Founding Member and organizer of 48 member Third Ward Redevelopment Council (TWRC) including civic, banks, churches, and multiple community based organizations. He spearheaded efforts to successfully raise significant dollars in the private sector to fund, facilitate and print "The Greater Third Ward Community Comprehensive Plan". Other notable accomplishments: founded community based organization for exposing youth to community diversity and improving citizenship - the Youth Awareness Mentoring Outreach (YAMO) program; founded and initiated the Eastside Village Phase I development of single family affordable homes and the Eastside Village Community Learning Center; and founded the South East Houston Community Development Corporation (SEHCDC).

Rev. Johnson currently serves on the Board of South Central YMCA, a major shareholder in Unity National Bank, Life Member of the 100 Club, a Commissioner - Texas Commission on Volunteerism and Community Service, Member American Leadership Forum and a member of Ministers Against Crime, Houston Police Department

Rev. Johnson, a native of Starkville, Mississippi, is married to Zelda Gray Johnson and they are the proud parents of their three children, Manson III, Matthew, and Michelle.
