Billy Burge Honored with Outstanding Proud Partner Award at 2003 Keep

September 30th, 2003

HOUSTON, TEXAS -- Harris County-Houston Sports Authority Chairman Billy Burge was honored Sept. 29 with the Outstanding Proud Partner Award at the 19th Annual Keep Houston Beautiful Luncheon, the annual ceremony that honors Houstonians and Houston-based companies who help make the Bayou City a better and more liveable place for all.

Established in 1979, Keep Houston Beautiful is a nationally-recognized, award-winning Keep America Beautiful affiliate and Houston's leading litter reduction, recycling and beautification organization committed to making Houston a cleaner, more beautiful and liveable city.

In honoring the Sports Authority's Chair at the 2003 Luncheon, HCHSA was recognized for its construction management of the three major new sports venues in Houston during the past six years, Minute Maid Park, Reliant Stadium and the Toyota Center as well as other city beautification projects, including the $2.3 million renovation of Root Square Memorial Park across the new downtown Toyota Center.

"The Proud Partner Award winners that we are honoring this year show true leadership, and are excellent role models of community activism and concern," said Bill Linthicum, Area President Republic Waste Services and Chair, Keep Houston Beautiful.

Chairman Burge was presented his Outstanding Proud Partner Award by Houston Mayor Lee P. Brown and Keep Houston Beautiful Chairman William C. Linthicum (shown above). Other honorees at the ceremony included Beth Miller as the 2003 Beautification Award winner and more than 10 civic organizations and Houston companies who were saluted for their devotion to developing more green areas in Houston.
